Write an Essay on “Automation and thinking machines are replacing human tasks and jobs and changing the skills that organizations are looking for in their people. These momentous changes raise huge organizational and HR challenges at a time when business leaders are already wrestling with unprecedented risks, disruptions and political and societal upheaval”.

Advantages and disadvantages of automation and thinking machines

The task is presented in a form of essay which discusses about how automation and thinking machines have replaced human tasks, jobs and changing the skills that organizations are looking for in their people. The paper further showcases the challenges that human resource management face while allowing the replacement of human minds to automatic machines and technological applications. It critically evaluates the relevance of how automatic and thinking machines have replaced human minds to hotel industry human resource management. This shows how the advanced technology has impacted on the employees in an organization. The challenges shown in the task discuss how effectively a business can perform by accomplishing those challenges.

Automation and thinking machines are replacing human task. It has shown number of advantages as well as disadvantages. Automation and thinking machines have shown an outstanding growth and progress in the field of business with the help of technology. These machines have secured the growth of organizations and it also saves the time for the business. Technology has played a very important role in the lives of people today. It has helped humans to cross barriers that come in between their task very easily. It has made life smooth and free from stress. It has shown greater advancements in the world and also has raised the capacity of humans to think differently in order to make optimum use of the technology. Technology holds a very important value in human resource. Today it has become a necessary tool for each and every industry. It has raised the standards of living of the people and developed their availability of resources in a proper way (Briscoe, Tarique & Schuler, 2012). In hotel industry, HRM uses machines for its better functioning and operations. It helps them in enriching their ideas and encouraging the employees for serving the clients in the competitive market. It serves as an advantage to the human resource and focuses on analyzing things with the ideas of organization. These machines help the hotel industry in attaining its needs and requirements without any hustle. This makes effective and unique the company to carry out their work without investing any extra time in it. Machines have given a great service to the companies by replacing human body from that kind of work that can be done easily with the help of machines (Angrave, Charlwood,  Kirkpatrick,  Lawrence & Stuart, 2016).

The replacement of human bodies with that of machines also carries disadvantages with them. In today’s era, the machines are used by the hotel industry to conduct business activities and actions. Without these automatic machines it is almost impossible to run the business effectively. But similar to its advantages companies also have to deal with its disadvantages. Machines have replaced the human bodies from their ability to think more (Schuler, Jackson & Tarique, 2011).  The talent of human beings in achieving and doing the target in their own manner is replaced by machines.  It disables the human resource to open their mind and think on how the work can be done without the involvement of machines. It has made human minds compact and has decreased their performance levels and efficiency. Now days human resource does not find it effective and necessary to put their efforts as almost all work are managed by machines.  The human thinking has developed its grounds with automatic thinking. It has conceptualized the thoughts of human resource managers by outing them thinking only in one direction. It has also made human resource managers to think and come out of new and innovative ideas in order to make the company function effectively and efficiently (MacCrory, Westerman, Alhammadi & Brynjolfsson, 2014).

The use of machines in the hotel industry

The use of machines in hotel industries is considered very important. Machines have helped the hotel in making attaining good amount of profit in a short period of time. Hotel sector needs to be famously known for its survival. It is an industry that takes into account the needs of the clients more than their requirements. Subsequently, competitive industries in this division utilize strategies and machines to guarantee that they can convey better services at a lesser cost to their customers. Use of computers in every industry is must now days. A computer can significantly discover the relationship between the elements that reason this occasional interest by examining crude information from the past and anticipating the future pattern precisely (Motahari-Nezhad, & Swenson, 2013). This shows a machine can cater to the needs of the industry effectively and in a proper way. Machines can manage the important tasks of the companies easily. Machine learning is considered a hustle free source of providing its customers what they need without having any impact on their profits. They utilize their pricing strategies as one of their most huge procedures to attract its clients (Frey & Osborne, 2017). Organizations attempt to give benefits at the best cost without trading off their benefits to draw in greatest clients. Here, Machine Learning can be useful. Automatic machines can help in classifying many diverse groups in small sub groups. This becomes easy for the hotel industry to cater each and every customer properly without compromising their values. This makes customers happy and becomes beneficial for the company by serving good amount of profits (David, 2015).

Every company has its own human resource department that is responsible for managing the employees and their activities. Human resource has to face various challenges in achieving the targets.  The coming of automatic machines has raised number of challenges that the hotel industry must focus on it (Osterwalder & Pigneur, 2010). Machines are considered an effective tool in helping to cater in various activities of hotel industries including serving to customers, preparing food, etc. The type of machines used in this sector includes use of robots. Robots help in serving the customers in a systematic manner. Since it is not easy to implement robotic techniques in each industry, hence it becomes challenging to acquire robotic features in the sector. Establishing robots in the industry is expensive and not usually afforded by all hotel sectors. In order to accomplish this challenge the company has to invest huge amount of money. Managing the employees working in the industry is also challenging. Hotel industry must know about the employee’s timely presence at the workplace and their improvement in the particular assigned area (Brynjolfsson & McAfee, 2012). It becomes challenging to track each and every record manually so machines are used. But an improper care of these machines might destroy the data present in the machines. Therefore, the industry must take care about the functioning of these systems. The challenging thing that company has to face here is to keep a track on the system while checking its employee’s presence at the same time. Keeping an eye on the availability of technology can also benefit the industry by involving good advancements in business. Establishing new devices in the industry is one of the mundane realities of hotels (Singh, Darwish, Costa & Anderson, 2012). The devices or the equipments used by the industries become outdated. In order to stand on the needs of the business, human resource managers of these hotels must be aware about the new equipments that can benefit the industry. In this case, the managers are asked to be present on knowing the new products, its specifications and whether it can be used for the welfare of the business in managing the things effectively or not. Machines have helped the hotels extremely in security control system. Machines are used as security check ups. It takes care about the safety and security issues of the hotel. Various machines are used as an entry allocator at the entrance of the building which can catch any passerby with bad intentions. But these machines many a times get corrupt and hence misguide the workers. In order to avoid such situation the worker must be aware about the controlling system. Hiring professionals for this task becomes challenging and therefore human resource managers have to take measures concerning the safety of the hotel (Collins, Busby & Staab, 2010).

HR challenges in automation and thinking machines

Thinking beyond the line is one of the biggest issues that can be faced by HRM at hotel industry after introducing new machines for functioning. Human resource managers demand something effective and outstanding from its employees (Handel, 2016).  Since, automatic machines are capable of working on the task better than employees, hence, the employees of the organization have to think of something that can beat the power of machines and can become beneficial for the company. This becomes a challenge for the employees to open their compact minds and develop it with high grade values. This will help in raising the graph of the company as well as will showcase the talent of the employees. This challenge can become an advantage for human resource managers and other members of the company (Grint & Woolgar, 2013).

Upgrading the machines on a timely basis is another challenge that is being entertained by HRM in hotel industry. Since machines are manmade, therefore it requires a proper maintenance on a timely basis. Machines are advancement in the field of technology. It requires time to time up gradation for better functioning. The regular maintenance of the machines must not be ignored. This becomes a challenge for the company to keep a track on its maintenance period. The machines must be checked and run in good condition.  It should obtain good results and must not create problem in the functioning of business (Cascio & Montealegre, 2016).

Understanding the use of machines is ongoing issue in HRM while working. The hotel industry has established new and advanced machines in their industry. The working of some machines becomes complicated. Some employees or workers find it difficult to understand the procedure of knowing the working of it. In this case, it becomes a challenge for the company to teach their workers the process of using it. To make them understand effectively, a demo session is conducted and sometimes a presentation is shown for better understanding. This cost time as well as money. Hence, in order to grow the business, it is necessary for the companies to carry themselves out of this challenge (Shneiderman, 2010).

Hotel sector is a fast emerging sector in today’s world. It requires new contact to extend its reach to as many customers as possible. To grow these customer advancements, there is a high need of developing good contacts from other parts of the world (Schmid, Hamrock & Jacobson, 2013). In the same way in order to implant new machines in the industry, it is necessary to grow contacts in order to generate good machines for business. Developing contacts therefore becomes challenging for the company as they are unaware of the people dealing in this sector and rising it to that level takes times. In order to compete with this challenge human resource department seeks for developing more of industrial contacts through clients, customers, promotions, advertisements, etc (Brynjolfsson & McAfee, 2012).

The task concludes on showing how machine learning is effective and lead to better results for the company in terms of profits. It is analyzed from the above discussion that machines are a way to portray the thinking of human minds. Putting machines into action can serve good outcomes to the companies and is very much cost effective. Machines are effective and can possess good amount of interest in a business environment. No business today can survive without the involvement of machines. It is considered more apt and effective way of doing business. Hence, the task provides the information about how machines play an effective role in managing and developing the humans wants. On the other hand, the machines also create ample of challenges and issues in front of HRM while functioning in hotel industry. The ideas provided by in the form of challenges helps in knowing how human resource managers can function in order to attain those challenges. It is recommended that hotel industry should motivate the workers to reduce and eliminate the extra use of machines in the global market,
