In this coursework, I have learned about business research, and I have found it very useful for my career path. In this course, I have been able to acquire knowledge about researching from the research designs to the methods. This knowledge has helped me in conducting specific activities such as answering the assignments one and two provided in class. The reason I was able to answer the questions was that I had the skills for researching and analyzing data that I was able to apply when doing the assignments.

I found the business research course useful in not only my career but my future as well. The knowledge that I have gained I will be able to apply in my business when researching on my target audience so that I can cater to their needs. The knowledge is also useful in my coursework for doing activities such as group work and group assignments as well as carrying out research on topics assigned in class. My learning experience during this course has been great and very, and I feel like I have gained a lot.

 Week 1

In this week I learned about the nature, process, and strategy of business research. The learning experience in this week was great, and I found it very effective. The knowledge that I learned in this topic I will apply to my future career in that I will use inductive reasoning when presented with a problem. Here I will evaluate a problem and then determine its cause and its solutions. I will also be able to apply this in my life when faced with an obstacle. I read a lot about business research and the gaps and unresolved issues that exist.

Week 2

In this week I learned a lot about research design and how to plan the research process. I read a lot about the different research designs and also discussed them with some of my classmates. The learning experience was rich, and the discussions were very effective since I was able to receive other people's views and knowledge. In this week I felt highly motivated to learn and always looked forward to the classes. I learned about the research process in terms of timing and how to come up with compelling findings. I will apply this in my coursework when doing assignments to produce persuasive arguments when answering questions.

Week 2

In this week I learned about literature review and how to write business research. I did a lot of research on literature review before the lectures, and this gave me a better understanding of the topic during the lessons. I mainly learned how to read effectively by jotting down notes and asking myself questions. I was able to apply this when reading for my exams by writing down the key points and answering questions about the topic. I developed new insights on researching from internet sources and how they are useful but also ineffective. This gave me better knowledge on how to carry out the literature review. I found the learning experience effective.

Week 4

I learned about the ethics and legal considerations in business research. During the learning process, I carried out a lot of research about ethical issues and how they affect other individuals. I was able to learn about the invasion of privacy and defamation that can be caused by research. I developed a new understanding of copyrighting and the importance of not infringing other people's rights. The learning experience was great and effective in equipping me with ethical principles. I will be able to apply this in my future career by conducting my businesses ethically and abiding by the law.

Week 5

I learned about qualitative research in this week. The learning experience was great as I was able to gain knowledge on how to carry out qualitative research from the sampling to participant observation. I was able to apply my knowledge on research by collecting relevant data and interpreting the data. I will use this in my future when researching topics given in class to come up with correct findings. The reason I did assignment one was so that I would see if I was able to carry out qualitative research. The learning experience was helpful as I was able to do the assignment effectively.

Week 6

This week I learned about interviewing and focus groups. I liked these lectures, and I always felt motivated to learn more. During the learning process, we created interviews that we shared and answered and the lecturer gave us few pointers on how to write a compelling interview. I was able to learn about the different types of interviews and how to conduct them. I found the focus group very helpful especially when doing assignments. I learned about how to use focus groups to generate different views on a topic. With this knowledge, I will be able to conduct useful interviews in my life, e.g., job interviews.

Week 7

In this week I learned about qualitative data analysis. I found the learning experience useful, and I was able to apply it to my course when analyzing data. I was more curious about the grounded theory, and I carried out a lot of research on it during the learning process. I was also able to learn about coding and the problems that arise from it. This helped me in coding effectively to arrive at corrective findings. I felt that the secondary analysis of qualitative data was not as helpful as the grounded theory. Therefore I preferred using the grounded theory.

Week 8

In this week, I learned about quantitative research and how to use it in business research. I was able to connect quantitative research with qualitative research learned earlier and tell the differences between the two. I felt like quantitative research was more helpful as it provided the numbers for specific data which in my opinion had more significant findings. I will be able to apply this in my course when researching for an assignment given. During the learning process, I was able to hear other people's views on quantitative research and how they felt about it. The learning experience was great and effective.

Week 9

This week, I learned about structured interviewing and questionnaire design. I especially developed a new insight on how to develop questionnaires and their advantages and disadvantages. During the learning process, the lecturer asked us to prepare questionnaires both open ended and close ended. I found this activity very helpful in applying the skills that I had learned. The lecturer also gave us a few pointers on our questionnaires, and I found this learning experience helpful. I will apply this knowledge in my life when developing questionnaires for any purpose and when conducting interviews as well. I also learned about the different types of interviews and identified which the most effective was in arriving at conclusions.

Week 10

In this week I learned about structured observation and content analysis. During the learning process, I learned a lot about people's behavior and how to use it in research. We carried out activities where the lecturer asked us to carry out an observation of other people (classmates) and write our findings. Once again I found this very helpful because I love group activities. I was also able to learn about content analysis through coding. I was able to connect this with the knowledge that I had acquired in week 7. I will apply this in my future life when analyzing other people's behavior to determine their interests and needs.

Week 11

In this week I learned about secondary data analysis and quantitative data analysis. In the secondary analysis, I was able to connect it with the lecture in week 7. In this lecture, I gained more insight into the advantages and the disadvantages of secondary analysis as well as the limitations. Hypothetically, I would say that secondary analysis is more efficient in terms of saving time and money, but it can be difficult to understand the work in the data. My learning experience in this week was helpful, and I will be able to apply in my coursework when analyzing data for research or an assignment.

Week 12

In this week I learned about mixed methods research. At first I felt very confused during the lectures about using both qualitative and quantitative research methods, but later on, I developed a better understanding. This I was able to do during the learning process by concentrating on the lectures and reading more out of class. I learned how to use multi-strategy especially in the case where one research design does not provide all the answers. I will be able to apply this in my career when solving problems in my business by coming up with multiple strategies to solve the problem.

Conclusion

I was able to learn a lot about business research in this, and I valued the learning experience. I was able to gain a lot of knowledge about the different aspects of research designs and apply the knowledge to my career as well as my life. I loved the group work activities, and the experience of sharing views and knowledge was very insightful.

In overall, the course helped me in conducting researches to get correct findings and accurate conclusions. This knowledge I was able to use in other course works as well and also apply it in future in my business when carrying out research on my target audience.
