Intelligence Led Policing in Australia

Democratic policing is the concept under which the activities conducted for policing are done with the consensus of the country's citizens. Democratic policing demonstrates the cooperation of police officers and citizens of the country in reducing crime in the area. To reduce crime and protect the interest of the citizens of a country, the police agency needs to work with the people jointly (Sherman 2022). For this essay and defining the police procedures under democratic policing, the Australian Federal police service is selected. Australian Federal police services are the agency that the government of Australia controls. The essay will discuss about the Intelligence Led Policing (ILP) that is used to gather valuable information about the criminal activities. Moreover, there is also a discussion about Anglo Peelian Model that is used by Australian Federal Police agency for practicing democratic policing.

It is responsible for investigating crimes in the country and safeguarding its national security. In today's world, the cases of human rights are increasing among the people worldwide due to which the policing agencies are concerned and making decisions to control it (Clover 2022). Human Rights issues in Australia frequently occur due to the death in the prison of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people. Human rights and democratic policing in Australia work together for a single purpose: to reduce crime in the region and protect the people of the country. Human rights help contribute to democratic policing of the people by raising the citizens' voices to stop crime in the country. The Australian Federal police services considered Human Rights a major contributor in giving information about crime and the development of the people in the country (Freeman 2022). The citizens that are active in demonstrating the human rights in the country on different tissues are the major contributors to the democratic policing of the nation. Intelligence lead policing is a process that is conducted to drag the activities of the criminal with the collaboration of the citizens of the country using the most advanced technological equipment. While conducting the activities in intelligence lead police in high-speed server and data collection techniques are used to increase the effectivity of the process. Due to the increase in criminal activities in Australia, the Australian Federal police services have increased the practice of Intelligence lead policing in the country. Intelligence lead policing in Australia allows the police service Agencies to transform into a modern agencies capable of tracking criminal activities in the minimum possible time (Hope 2021). It has resulted in the Australian Federal police becoming more effective, and to better utilize the resources in the agency. This process is completed because of the contribution of the citizens by giving valuable information about the criminal activities to the police officer. The essential readings conducted about the democratic policing practice by the Australian Federal police suggest that the human rights of the citizens in the country place a significant role in making the process successful and effective. It is also observed that intelligence-led policing encourages the country's citizens to participate in the investigating activities and pass on valuable information to police officers (Mazerolle et al. 2021).

Human Rights and Democratic Policing

The mission statement of the Australian Federal police services is to reduce criminal activities with the contribution of the citizens and to implement effective law in the country. Intelligence lead policing is an integral part of the investigating activities conducted by Australian Federal police in different country areas. It provides valuable information to the Australian Federal police in smuggling, human trafficking, Cybercrime and terrorism (Reeves 2022). To maintain and improve the technological advancements in the intelligence-led police, the Australian Federal police spends a huge amount of money every year. For example, to raise the skilled labour force and improve the servers of Intelligence lead policing from 2018 to 2019, the Australian Federal Police received the amount of 512 million dollars from the government (Chan, Logan and Benett 2022). The statement of value and ethics demonstrated by the Australian Federal police includes honesty and integrity for all the citizens of the country. The police agency is transforming the operations to make it more accountable and transparent for easily solving criminal activities issues. They are also improving the existing system in the agency to provide the best possible service to these citizens and help them in personal growth and development. Moreover, Australian Federal police commission that the police officer in the agency is responsible for handling the information provided by the citizens in the most secretive manner (Glensor and Peak 2022). The Australian government's fund allocated for the Australian Federal Police is also accountable and recorded for transparency in the system. In the statement of value and ethics of the Australian Federal Police, it is also observed that they continuously improve their working areas to cope with the country's technology and advancements. The training in the development of the police officers is conducted consistently, and new methods and techniques are included in the training process.

The Anglo Peelian model demonstrates that the police officers are citizens in the uniform responsible for protecting the citizens of the country with their consent and contribution. The operations conducted to investigate the criminal activities by the Australian Federal police are related to the Anglo Peelian model (Neubauer, Friesendorf and Schroeder 2022). The police officer in this agency considers the human rights of this it is the priority and acts accordingly to reduce the criminal activities in the region. Moreover, for conducting the activities in democratic police in the Australian Federal police takes the consent of these citizens at every step and values the information they provide about the criminal activities in the area. Intelligence-led policing helps the police officers complete their daily operations in the Australian Federal police agency (Smith and Miller 2022). The agency gives priority and a high level of importance to the information led policing for collecting the information about human trafficking and tracking the activities of terrorism in the country. It also helps the Australian Federal police agency to counter Cybercrime issues in the area that results in the human out of law to the people. The police officer conducts it by contacting the local people in the area and talking to them about the illegal activities that they observe during the day and night. Moreover, they investigate the people that are suspected and have some past record about involving some illegal activities in the area (Collier et al. 2022). This method helps create a positive impact on the people in the area and helps build an emotional connection with the local people. Due to this reason, the local people take the initiative to help the police officer and counter the legal activities in the country. That information-led policing results in a successful strategy opted by your Australian Federal police agency to counter various illegal activities. The implementation of information-led policing is collecting information from citizens of the country, which results in a successful strategy implementation by the Australian Federal police agency (Chan, Logan and Bennett 2022). It helps to build trust among these citizens of the country and encourages them to contribute more by providing valuable information about the illegal activities in the area. For example, these citizens of the country observe the activities of Cyber Crime and fraud than they provide all the relevant details about the crime to the police officer of the Australian Federal police agency. It results in finding the criminals conducting the illegal activities more effectively and in less time.

From the above discussion about the democratic policing activities that are conducted by the Australian Federal Police agency it is concluded that there are various factors involved in successfully completing the process. The discussion explains about the methods that are conducted to gather the information form the citizens of the country about the illegal activities in the region. It is also discussed about the contribution of the citizens of the respective countries in helping the police agency to track the activities of the criminals in the country. Moreover, it is mentioned about the human rights policing that is conducted for reducing the criminal activities in the area with the help of the citizens in the country.
