Write a report on self-evaluation about the working with the community.

Understanding community

The community is generally termed as the group of people or any specific criteria gathered at the same place with some particular characters in common. This is the small as well as the larger social unit which is common in religion, identity and or values. Working with communities are the ways to get achievements in the context of health and social care. This study aims to understand the communities its approach towards the communities and working with the communities. The communities are also the large group of the national communities, virtual communities, and international communities. The study describes the every aspect of the communities and the reflection towards the views of communities.

Within the module 1, the study describes the understanding of the communities. This state that the community works is the social and health care development. Different category people do work within the community and they comprise of the psychologist, youth workers, teachers, child care workers, policy officers, and planner. They work towards the sustainability, enrichment and better health for that community. This is easy to say the fact that most of the professions are able to work directly within or in the communities. There are various other processes with which the people get involved in the works of communities within the voluntary capacity. The people within the communities are like the same in every aspect and they like to live together peacefully. The community works are said to the work which seeks to be sure of the people to have relationship networks around to them (Phoenix, 2013). This may help them meet their requirements and the aspirations that include the support services based on the community. The community work also may be said to as the people within the community who are all together working for the achievement of the chosen action. This has also known for the work, which fosters the community’s capacity to receive their own requirements and aspirations. The work within the communities are done for the increasing the strengths of every individual, enhance the strength of the family members to meet the requirements as well as aspirations. This also provides the social support which is to work from the stranger to the stranger for providing the resources for the people achieving their aspirations and requirements (Sue Riddlestone, 2011 ). There are two major principles of working with the communities. The first one is to understand the communities to which one is working with. The second principle is the establishment and maintenance of the effective relationship along with the working partnerships and those who are affected by the ongoing work process.

From the sociological point of view, the community is localities based or are based on the relationship. This is essential whether I am likening to be with the community which I think is the community. The community does vary from nation to nation. This also varies in different groups of cultures and ethnic group. Elements of the community are locality, local society and the locally oriented interaction of the society (Chitere & Mutiso, 2015). The community has the common group of interest. This is the social system. From the normative point of view, this is essential to acknowledge the community is not required for the source of peace as well as prosperity nor is the source of every problem.

Approaches to community

From the Australian aboriginal point of view over the community, this is essential to understand the liking to be an aboriginal Australian. This also requires understanding the inequity level which the aboriginals generally face. Most of the young aboriginals do not like visiting the prison in their life. The Australian aboriginal does not think in terms of the community. The Aboriginality is homogenous (Cathy Adair, 2010). The aboriginal’s social practices generally based on the wisdom of aboriginals that combines the elements of social, culture, spiritual and physical knowledge. In order to work within the community of Australian Aboriginal, this is required to get knowledge about them and their past and the discrimination facts.

Module 1 also describes the fact of community capacity. This is the inherent resource within the community and the capability of the community for using them (Tondu et al. 2015). This portion of the study also reflects me about the community strength, social infrastructure, community narratives, attitudes of the community, resources of them, and relationship within the society, entrepreneurial social infrastructure as well as the social capital. All these aspects of the community I can establish the way of managing the community work in society and family.

Within the second module, I am able to understand the concepts of the approaches towards the community work. This has demonstrated a wide range of work progress in the community. This has examined the application of specific work process to the variety of client group along with the roles of the community work within the government development and policy for the agency. This is clear from the module that there are four approaches towards the working with the communities and these comprise of contributions approach instrumental approach, community empowerment approach, and departmental approach. The continuous approach is generally used for encouraging community for providing them with time, private facilities, expertise and financial support to the community (Vukic, Etowa & Perley-Dutcher, 2014). For the instrumental approach, this approach has involvement to the planner over the objectives of any program through plans for convincing the people for acceptance of the objectives. This is commonly utilized approach for implementing the health care initials in present Australia.

Community empowerment is the reference frame that involves the change of individuals and community resulting in the achievement of the task. These comprise of the personal development, social action, conscious raising and these are important when communities and the individuals are having influencing issues that affect their well-being.

The module has stated the five practices of community work framework and these are the development of the interactional community framework, the building of capable communities for the promotion of health, participative development, making total capacity for programs that are based on the community and development of community-based on the assets (Diana O’Neil, 2013). Development of the interactional community framework is useful during working within the mall community that is divided to bitter faction as this provides the structure to analyze the factions or divisions. This provides the context within which it can have work for development cohesion (Hingley, 2015). This is consistent with the community work with the approach of development.

The framework for the participative development has the strength to win the project as well as keep them going on to the left of professionals. Community-based framework program has the goal to identify the common ground, work cooperatively, partnership working and working within the community. The framework for the community-based program has the strength towards the community health and development of social care. This has the usefulness in the promotion of health and social care initiatives.

The framework based upon the assets does identify the importance to focus on the strength of others and not their disadvantages or weaknesses which can misguide or solve problems for the sake of the community (Cameron et al. 2016).

The government, state and the federal have the roles in the working with communities. There is huge government involvement in the daily lives of ordinary people than before. The regulations of the government are not the bad thing and there exist many things that are having no resolve by the communities. These can be solved by the involvement of the government.  There are three levels of government that are responsible towards the providing various services by each other to the communities in the whole nation. Within the Australia, every politician is elected with the compulsory voting to the state and federal parliaments.

The approach of the community service development is based on the premise which the service provision has the responsibility for both the government as well as the community. Whereas the community engagement approach is likely to as the government or the organizations led activity structured to maximize the involvement of community within the particular issues and based on the assumption which implementation of policies and the effective development are reliant over the actual involvement of the stakeholders (Johnston et al. 2016). Engagement of the community has practiced in the range of development aim, settings and manages the productive relationships within the government as well as the broader communities such as the services, organizations, and group of clients. Hence the approach with the communities has described the applicability of various approaches to many situations with various client group and community groups. This is clear from the study for the fact of community work and the interaction of the government bodies.

The working with the communities does require various skills. This has explained the skills such as skills related to the community decision making, skills for the building as well as maintaining the community partnership, skills to develop the community leadership, skills for the planning of the community and skills for the knowledge build on the communities along with their requirements (Hengel et al. 2015). Making decision is one of the difficult processes to work with the communities. There are various aspects of the community decision making such as key principles, challenges, organizational structures, techniques to involve the community along with the concepts to control the community and ownership of the community. Facilitating the community decision?making is among the most difficult skills for using effectively.  This is crucial for community work. There are various principles for fostering the success of decision making for the community. These principles are to be aware of the contextual factors such as social attributes and social structures, values of community and topic nature (Evans, 2015). The principles also include the knowing of which decision made by the communities, avoiding of the top-down talking, the involvement of the community for framing and naming the task for the community, providing correct and perfect information along with the resources (Cathy Adair, 2010). These principles also include the creation of safe public areas for the people for contributing their point of views.

There are major two challenges to work with the communities. One is to deal with the professionals those cannot grant that people within the community and actually may be the best informed on their own status. The second one is the conflicting position for the making of the decision that is based on the poorly informed assumptions that bear few resemblances to any informed professional point of view for the status. There are organizational structures to make decisions and this comprises of the community advisory groups, management boards, decision making control community and ownership such as private sectors, community controlled enterprises, control of community and ownerships (Patel, Hearn & Slack?Smith, 2015). Community partnership is referred to the establishment of the partnerships which is based on the major principles to be clear about the partnership reason, building relationship trust and identifying the mutual trust. The partnership may be of various kinds. They are within the community, sectors, across sectors and partnership with the external sectors.  The working with the communities is comprised of the working phase that comprises of the communication, environment of the partnerships, maintenance of the motivation, moving with the decision, ensuring of the closure and finally celebrate the achievements. The workings of the communities have to establish with the leadership who has the goal along with skills, planning, techniques, and challenges.

Conclusion

The work with the community does involve various attributes which have to concern by the workers and the communities. Various leadership is involved within the community works and these require some techniques that involve the rapid appraisals, surveys, hotline telephone, Delphi, group to focus, meeting with the public, and service audit. This is essential to have the sound knowledge base and practice skills in order to become better community workers. The ranges of issues have to keep in mind before approaching towards the work with the communities. Hence this concludes that the working with the communities requires many skills and complete evaluation.
