Information technology is the study of systems that includes sending information, storing data, telecommunication etc. it includes the design, administration support of the computer, administration and supports to the computer. For the growth in IT a person needs skills and technics in the IT field, a degree of bachelor’s in IT (Borghoff & Pareschi 2013). It includes software and hardware that a company uses for the growth. It also includes the database management and media storage device that is important for each and every business. Day by day, the technology keeps changes with the new innovation done by the IT specialist.

Telstra is the Australia’s one of leading telecommunication company that offers communication services in the market. Company provide 17.4 million mobile services, 3.5 million retail fixed broadband and 6.8 fixed voice services in Australia. Telstra is proud that their service is helping the customers to get connected to their relatives and friends (Telstra, 2017).

Communication is possible just because of the technology; in the field of telecommunication technology plays a vital. Telstra brings new ways to communicate with others with the use of technology. The company needs technology for creating new customers and enhancing experience of existing customers. Customer uses different technology to communicate with the relatives and friends such as video conferencing, texting, messages etc. this needs internet and latest technology (Telstra, 2017). Company needs IT, Not only for providing good services to the customer but to identify the new opportunity for the growth and development of the company (Renewing U.S telecommunications research 2006).

In the business of telecommunication without the use of technology company can’t survive. Company uses different software’s so that they can easily run their business smoothly. Company needs technology to connect the devices with each other. With the emergence of the internet technology Telstra begin to join the customer with this facility. They provided this technology as a software application in different devices which helps in connecting to the people such as mobile phones, laptop and computers, etc. IT is important for Telstra, with the help of this company keep developing and connecting the sensors and networks. And later on provide that service to the customers so that they can easily get connect with their love ones (Raynor & Wilson 2015).

Telstra required IT for the installation process as they use online security version 3 that can only be installed on the computers or laptop running with Windows XP service pack 3. One of the conditions is that, window must be installed on c drive in the computer which should have the screen resolution of at least 800*600. So for continuity and smooth working Telstra needs software needs to be installed on each and every company. For all these installation there is the use of technology (Telstra 2017). Further installing the software and using it efficiently and effectively the requirement of technology will be there. Telecommunication business is similarly related and connected with the IT so both the business work simultaneously. In the business filed of telecommunication we found that without the IT business cannot survive. IT requirement is must in the telecommunication; it leads to the development and growth of the company.

Customer uses IT for connecting with their family and relatives, they use technology for crystal clear calls for better clarity while talking and for the reduction in the background voice customer uses technology. Customer prefers HD now that is one of the technologies, which reduce the waiting time. Generally willing tapping to call it will take time to get connected but with the use of HD technology call get connected rapidly. Customer uses technology so that they can easily do multitasking by calling and using 4G simultaneously. Customer generally prefer conference calling because of which they can easily get connected to more and more peoples, this is just because of the technology. So technology plays a vital role in the life of the human being, with the use of technology they can utilize telecommunication services provided by Telstra. The supplier of the Telstra also uses Technology they are expertise in complex operational support system. In the field of IT there is different software that a company uses, for that company need skilled members as well. Person who is not related with the field of IT will not be able to understand the language Java, C, C++ etc. but skilled person can easily understand.

• Helpful in increasing revenue: - As per the Telstra financial guidance with the improvement and up gradation in the technology, company found the growth in the revenue for the company. Telstra is providing more and more better services to the customer which is helping company to increase the revenue with the help of technology. For development and growth company has invested in the advanced technology which is beneficial for the company. The amount Telstra has invested is very huge amount (Telstra, 2016).
• Value addition to the fixed line services: - There is a big advantage of technology to the company with the help of technology company can add value to their existing services which will be value add in for the customer. Such as with the help of technology company can add value to the T- Hub which is a new touch screen phone that combines telephony, internet and media player.
• Explanation of adjacent and complementary markets: - Technology is coming up with new changes so with the investment on IT, company is able to grow in the market and also there will be growth of the markets which are linked with company and to whom company deals. This will increase the growth opportunity for the rest of the place as they get motivated and also government growth will be there. This is just because of the use of advanced technology by the company. So IT plays an important role for the company (Telstra, 2014).

Company said that they don’t disclose information related to the company because they found the risk of hackers.  Company confessed that there is a cyber-risk, even though company is having an information secure team. Company faced cyber-attacks daily and in the year 2015, when internal corporate network pacnet was compromised. After this, Telstra made itself cyber security expert company but in the past few year company faced problem with the security of the customer data (Pash 2017). Telstra is Telecommunication Company so there is a possibility that company can face risk factors for the confidential details of the customers. There are many details as company accept payment from the customer through account, credit card, debit card, etc. so system capture the details of the customer. Now company found this can be risk for the company with the security of those confidential details.

Company Telstra keeps in touch with the technology because they found that maintaining the updated technology is important for the growth of the company (Telstra, 2012). Company keeps updating the technology so that they can provide new services to the customer and with the up gradation in the technology company can generate more and more revenue. For generating revenue company needs to invest in the technology. With maintain and monitoring Technology Company can easily get the way to reduce the risk associated with it. Company can protect their system with the installation of Virus and Malware protection. Daily monitoring of security hardware is one of the important parts that are included in the monitoring of the IT. The system patch management keeps systems up to date which is helpful in the smooth working of the system (Information technology group 2017).

Information technology is required for each and every business for the survival as well as for the growth of the business. The company Telstra is the leading telecommunication company, it is working smoothly. The motive of the company is to provide customers a way towards the connecting with friends and relatives. Communication plays important role in one’s life, but communication way is changed by telecommunication companies with the use of IT. The paper talks about the necessity of IT to the business and also the importance of IT in the business. It also talks about the use of IT, use of IT by customers, supplier’s that is helpful for the company. Technology use is not so easy, it is associated with the risk as well that need to be taken care by the company for that company maintain and monitor the technology so that it will not create any big impact on the business. Maintain and monitoring of the technology on time is taken care by each company, it reduces the risk factor.
