Principles

Horse riders have more potential risk of getting injured than the other sports that attracts athletes. This is due to the fact that horses are capable of independent acts and it is upon the rider to control the horse to some extent, which may result in changing the action of the horse. Since the buildup of the animal is large, the rider sometimes is three meters above the ground. A fall from that that height may cause spine and head injury to the rider (Newsome et al., 2013). Many research have shown that the riders die mostly due to head injuries as they fall from such a great height. Most of the accidents that happen in riding schools are due to the horses, which may occur due to manhandling them or riding on it. The duties of the workers who are employed in horse riding schools includes that they have to take care of their own safety and health. They also need to take care of their health because that will have a positive effect on the animals and they may not get contagious (Thompson, McGreevy & McManus, 2015).

The principles that will be required for managing the riding school is that firstly there has to be division of labor where each of the persons involved in taking care of the school has to have their tasks cut out for them according to their specification. This will help in working in a simple manner and with efficiency. It will help the school and the employees to speed up their work, which will have a positive result in the performance and better care of the animals. The management of the school needs to appoint one leader so that the employees can receive orders from that person and also provided valuable feedbacks. It will help in maintaining the unity in command and provide a disciplined environment in the workplace. It will also help in creating a bond of trust between the leader and the employees (Giesler & Wickramasinghe, 2015).

There needs to be equity in the workplace, which will help in treating the employees with fairness and justice with respect to their backgrounds and their specializations. The school needs to have a systematic arrangement of its equipment and the people. The materials have to be placed in  proper manner so that accidents can be avoided in the workplace and can be retrieved when required by the management. A social order also has to be present so that the job is provided to the suitable person, which will help in smooth functioning of the organization. Remuneration needs to be provided in a proper manner and according to the specialization of the employee so that they can remain happy in the training schools (Cameron & Green, 2015).

The Competing Values Framework helps in identifying the major variables that help in increasing the organizational performance. It helps in the development of leadership experiences, which is focused on the core competencies and capabilities within the educational programs. It helps in providing insights to the types of leaderships, the values that drive the leaders and the changes that they make in the organization. The framework suggests that the tools and the techniques that are required by the training school so that they are focused on innovation, transformational changes and creativity can help them to be successful in their business. The school needs to adopt new and innovative techniques so that they can gain a competitive advantage over the other training schools that are present within that area or the city (McCracken & Morley, 2014).

Model

The change management model of Lewin helps in identifying the zones where the employees feel safe to work in. they resist the changes in the workplace initially, which can be overcome by providing them motivation in the workplace. The transition period may last for a few days, which needs to be avoided by providing reassurance from the leaders in the organization. the McKinsey model helps by providing proper and effective methods that will diagnose the organization. It acts as a guiding light for the changes that needs to be taken up in the organization and the integral parts of the organization needs to be addressed in a systematic manner (Zurich, 2017).

The training school needs to adopt some parts of these models as it will help them in running the organization in a better way. The models that will be required during the course of running the organization needs to be collaborated all together so that it provides the best support to the organization as and when it is required by the horse riding school (Graham, Henrie & Gibbons, 2014).

The contingency theory helps in identifying the decisions that are taken by the managers, which should not be universal in nature and has to be different as and when the need arises. This will help in developing a positive attitude within the workplace as it will help in bringing more participation from the workers by the leaders. The systems theory will help in differentiating the systems that will create an impact on the workers with respect to the organization. These different systems will help in achieving the goals of the organization (Reed et al., 2014). It will enable the managers of the workplace to work in coordination in arranging the programs so that they organization in whole can achieve its targets. The chaos theory identifies the necessary changes that are important in the workplace, which will help in the smooth functioning of the workplace. The changes have to be made according to the degree of complexities that have raised in the workplace. There needs to be an increase in efficiency so that the level of complexity can be reduced, which will help in achieving the stability for the organization. This will help the management to adopt to the changes accordingly and increase the efficiency of the workplace (Hayes, 2014).

There needs to be meticulous planning and organizing that needs to be followed by the horse riding schools. Firstly, a facility has to be chosen, which can provide boarding to the animal along with training to the potential customers. The location of the property is also important as the requirement of land has to be more than twenty acres along with a farmhouse. The placed will have to consist of things like horse barn, an indoor and an outdoor arena (Chapman & Thompson, 2016). The property has to be well guarded and fences have to be put up alongside the entire property so that the animals do not get disturbed by the outside commotion. The location has to be in a prime area so that the people can take note of it and may come and join the institute (Buchmann, 2017).

Theories in Management

The school needs to select their clients who wants to be equestrians and seek for better facilities that maintain their horses along with boarding facilities and provides better instruction and guidance with respect to horse training. It is seen that many new owners get attracted to this business due to vast availability of land that is suitable for horse riding and the availability of grounds that holds competition to showcase their talents. The business plan will help in competing with the other institutions that are available in the areas, which provides training to the clients as well (Williams & Tabor, 2017).

The management is a private owned organization and the assets of the organization along with the operations of the business are all owned by the management. the organization needs to have an attorney that will help in handling the process of incorporation, which will provide advise in the legal proceedings of the horse business. The insurance agent has to be appointed so that the property, care and liability of control can be insured along with medical insurances that will be provided to the riders of the school (Fiedler & Mc Greevy, 2016). A need of a farmer in the business is important as it will help in farming the land so that different varieties of crops can be grown all the year round, which will provide valuable nutrients to the animals. A feed store owner has to be employed who will provide valuable insights on the concentration of the food that needs to be provided to the horses. Veterinarians are also important as they will take care of the medical side for the horses if they fall sick and behave unnaturally due to some problems (Dabscheck, 2015).

For the organization to be lead and controlled in a proper manner, there needs to be proper inflow of finances. A provision of horse trailers has to be made if the horses need to be transported from one place to another and the other funds will include the initial cost structure for the provision of bedding and hay, which will act as a food concentrate. There has to a provision of funds for the farming and the fencing equipment. The construction of the horse stables are a one-time investment and repairs to the structures have to be done on a regular basis so that accidents can be avoided, which can be done on the basis of the projection of the cash flows from the training procedures. Licenses and other approvals have to be taken from the government so that there is no initial problems in purchasing the property and using it according to the plan (Davie, 2014).

Horse riding schools have to have a provision to perceive the environment in which their schools are built. The schools are built mostly on the natural environments that have been modified, which allows the students to understand the human impacts on the environment. Location is an important factor and has to be planned meticulously by the supervising staffs on the best places that are available within the area. When assessing the location certain aspects needs to be kept in mind such as the potential of the area to support the objectives that the educational institute has. The availability of the resources and the services that is present in the area such as water, which is essential along with provision of toilets and shelter. The responsive action of the local members in an emergency situation such as extreme weather and the potential environmental hazards that it can cause on the stable (Viksten, Visser & Blokhuis, 2016). Communication plays an important role as well as it helps in receiving the information about weather forecasts and communicating with the other schools as well. The choice of the strategy in communication has to be based on the technology that is currently available in the market. This strategy will help the school management to communicate with third parties during an emergency situation. Weather is an important environment factor as it tends to change rapidly due to the environmental hazards caused by humans, which has led to global warming. Before commencing of the learning programs, the organization needs to update their information about the probable weather forecast, which needs to be analyzed and warnings need to be taken in to account. The information about weather can be obtained from the Bureau of Meteorology and if there is any sign of thunderstorms or high velocity winds, then additional care needs to be taken for the horses so that they do not behave in a rough manner. Transportation facilities for the students are necessary as no outside vehicles are allowed within the training school. The vehicles that are used by the schools to transport the students’ need to comply with the local registration of that area. The drivers of the vehicles need to have a current license and the equipment that are placed inside the vehicle needs to be at one place and securely tied so that accidents can be mitigated inside the vehicle. The students must be accompanied by one adult so that any problem that arises inside the vehicle can be solved in a proper manner (Hemsworth, Jongman & Coleman, 2015).

The Equestrian Federation of Australia that is present in New South Wales and the Australian Horse Riding Centers along with the NSW Animal Welfare Advisory Council has come up with certain guidelines that needs to be followed for the welfare of the horses that are required in the training schools. The stakeholders of the firm needs to inspect that the managers of the firm are providing the adequate facilities such as food and water along with proper care of the horses so that they are not neglected (Rose, Sprinks & Canhoto, 2014). The managers need to supervise and maintain the health of the horses and proper hygiene needs to be maintained in the supporting premises. The managers need to appoint proper veterinary services for the horses if they fall sick or any other injury takes place during the course of action. The records about the students and other things needs to be collected and maintained so that it helps at the auditing in the end of the financial year. The main food supplies for the horses have to be protected from the forces of nature so that it remains dry and has to be stored in a proper and dry area. The protection area for the horses needs to have automatic locking devices, which cannot be opened easily that will help in preventing the animals from escaping the enclosure. Fences needs to be provided all around the area, which will ward off the external dangers that the school may face. The stakeholders will also be interested in how the animals are disposed once they become uneconomical. These animals are disposed in a humane manner as there are provisions of huge waste bin collectors, which decomposes the animal and can be used further for manures in the pastural lands (Horseman et al., 2017).

Thus, it can be recommended that the schools need to improve its financial position by mitigating the risk factors, which will help in asset transfer within the community and mitigate the inefficiencies that may be present in the schools. The corporate objective of the schools need to be maintained so that they do not deviate from it and provide the best educational programs to the students. The schools need to communicate with each other during the emergency situations so that they can work collaboratively in avoiding the risks in the business. The horses need to be maintained in proper health so that they do not fall sick or get injured. The schools need to have a provision of first-aid kit that will help the horses to get medical attention before being treated properly by the vet.

Conclusion

Therefore, it can be concluded that the owners of the riding schools need to maintain all the legal procedures that will help them in establishing a training school. They need to maintain the horses in a hygienic environment so that they can be treated in the best manner possible. This will help the schools in grabbing the attention of the customers who are willing to be students of these riding schools. The schools need to be constructed in a planned manner so that in the case of emergency all provisions are available for the animals. They need to follow the management guidelines so that it helps them in increasing their profit by getting more number of students.
