Discuss aboute the Advantages And Disadvantages Of Drones.
In this assignment, the researchers’ chosen topic is drone. Drone is a new concept which was introduced in late 20th century. In present time, the drone is used for different purpose such as military surveillance , exploring places and others. It is used to take photograph and sometimes drone is used to lift objects. It is an innovative concept as it reduces costs and time. The drone is creative concept which is welcomed by many fields to reduce workload. There are three types of usage of drones typically: commercial purpose, for home use which are used by hobbyist and for extraction of mine.
There are some sustainability issues regarding drone. However, some issues could be positive and there are some negative issues. Those are social, economic and environmental.
The main social issue could be, drone can break privacy. The drone can be use to take photograph of some place or things from sky and this can create problem. Taking photographs can interrupt someone's privacy. Those photographs can use against of the individual. Also there are some positive issues regarding drones. Police can use it to look after a big event or chase someone in any congested place. Sometimes drones are used in any area where it is difficult to reach. Military can use it for surveillance purpose (Verhagen, Bermell-Garcia, van Dijk & Curran,2012).
here is some economic issues such as the drones are expensive. In order to get a drone, an individual or a company needs to spend a good amount of money. Any organisation buys or make a drone which is relevant with their work. To get all the facilities in drone they need to spend good amount of money. There are several types of power supply process in drone such as solar power, combustion engine, batteries etc. Some of these power supply process is expensive. Moreover, repair cost is sometimes high.
The drone is environmentally friendly. There is no pollution happens for using drone or if happens sometimes, it is too less. Also, drones are used to look after the wildlife in forest and it is used to soil and crop analysis and irrigation (Azapagic, Millington & Collett, 2006).

The engineers need to identify what a drone can do and what kind of facilities can use in a drone in order to make it more useful. They need to identify the advantages of using a drone and also in what purpose it can be used in future. After that, they have to plan and design a drone .

The drone is used for so many purposes now days such as military, police, commercial, photography etc. To make a drone an engineer need to analyze first in what purpose the drone is going to use. After that they need to make a design and put certain technologies regarding to the future work of the drone. The drone needs to be environment friendly (Mihelcic, 2003). The engineers need to design it in a way that, it can make very less or no pollution. Also, some drones are so costly that everyone can not afford it. In order to make it more popular, the engineers need to focus on how the drones can be cheaper. If anyone can take the advantages of drone then it will help a lot in future. Also, the engineers need to look after the noise delivering from a drone. Some, drones are very noisy and engineers need to address the fault regarding it and need to solve it as soon as possible (Segalas, Ferrer-Balas & Mulder, 2010).
The drones are very helpful in order to do some work. However, there are some ethical issues related to drones and everyone needs to focus on those issues before using a drone. The drone can interrupt anyone’s privacy as told before. By using drone an individual can get any personal photos of anyone and it could be inadvertent. However, that image can use against that individual. Before using drone an individual need to be careful about this issue. Moreover, the person whose privacy is hampered, he or she will file law suit against the drone user (Van de Poel, 2001).
Also, there are some safety issues related to using drones which need to be addressed before using it. Most of the drones flown at low altitude and their work range is specific. By flying at low altitude it can harm any person which can be totally inadvertent. This can be bad for both of the user and the one who get harmed by drone. The drone can also get damaged.
The numbers of drones are increasing eventually which can be do some bad impact. The drones are mostly controlled by remote and the frequency of it can interrupt the communication of airplanes. This could lead into a big accident. Also increasing number of drones can hurt someone or can be harmful for any other work done (van Gorp, 2005).
Ethical issues which may relate and how they have been addressed
There is also a issue about noise pollution. The drones are very much noisy and sometimes the sound from it crosses the sound limit of pollution. Not all drones are like that but some of it are very noisy according to their work. This could be so irritating for people and this can create a bad impact on wildlife if a noisy drone is working near a forest (Glenn, 2004).
In order to do use a drone, people need to address the issues related to it and need to justify them.
First of all, user always look after that the drone is not interrupting anyone's privacy. User needs to restrict the use of drone in any private places. The individual also needs to be careful while flying a drone. The drone mostly flies through low altitude and it can hurt anyone if not controlled properly. So, the person who is flying the drone always needs to be careful and need to have the skill to fly a drone. An individual who is going to fly a drone needs to be well trained that he is not going to hurt someone or not doing any other harmful act by losing its control. The people also need to be aware about drones (Cavoukian, 2012). People need to know how drones work and how it can harm an individual. The authority needs to let people know about the facts of the drones, so that the people can careful when they come nearby of a drone. The other big problem about drone is noise pollution. The engineers who are going to design the drone need to address this issue as soon as possible. The noise pollution could be happened for design dispute. Therefore, the engineers need to change it design or need to develop new design in order to reduce the noise pollution issue (Byman, 2013).
There are some problems faced in order to get the required information. The problems are not so big but it makes disruption in order to generate some amount of data. For getting data, a team of students has come forward and divide the works. They used to identify some drone users and find out informations about the drone, its advantages and disadvantages. Students need to get appointment to meet up with an individual who is using a drone. The people who are using it for hobby or for normal photography, getting appointment from them was not so hard. They like to show off their drone and have no problem about discussing its features and disadvantages they are facing (Cavallucci & Khomenko, 2006). However, the businesses or government organisations whoever using drones are hard to convince for getting appointment from them. They are often busy or sometimes they do not want to leak information about their drones. However, the students managed to convince them or get some other organisation to discuss about this topic.
Analyze the relevant issues and express your own opinions and thoughts
The drones are very useful if it used properly and the drone user needs to reduce its negative side. Some drones are very noisy which is harmful for the people near it, for the workers and it is also harmful for wildlife if it used near forest. Engineer need to look after on this issue. They need to design the drones in a way which will effectively reduce the noise pollution for it. The higher amount of noise pollution can lead the drone user to jail. Therefore, the user must be focused on this issue and he need to take the initiative to reduce his drone's sound pollution.
The drone user must be careful about if it is going to harm anyone or not. It the user is not trained properly then he need to let know the nearby people so the the people can protect themselves from getting hurt from drone. Also, the user needs to get training as soon as possible. The user also needs to use drones in a way so that other frequencies are not harmed. Airport authorities need to restrict using outsider drones near it. It will save them to clash of frequencies of drone and airport communication as well as it helps to maintain privacy of airport. The engineers need to make drones in a way so that it can be cheaper in cost so that everyone can afford it and take the advantages of it (Segalas, Ferrer-Balas & Mulder, 2010).
It can be stated here that special competencies are required to mange engineering projects. As member of the drone construction and production team it can be easily stated that the two most prominent problems that have been evident in managing the process lie in the reduction of noise cost associated with drone. Both issues are technical. The first issue which is about the noise made by drones can be reduced by changing the design of the drones and by implementing noise reducers in the unmanned vehicles. It has been evident that the root cause of the noise needs to be identified and eradicated. It can be further stated that the use of sophisticated technologies might help in this regard. Its note worthy to state here that the management should focus on making designs which would reduce cost and at the same time reduce the issuance of noise.
The other problems which need to be addressed by engineers are the high cost of some drones. The engineers need to know what makes the drone so costly and they need to make it accordingly so that they can reduce the extra cost. This would ensure maximization of utility of the product.
