Learning plays an integral role in the overall growth of an individual. Learning also helped in individual too gain an understanding of the professional world. The following paper will explain my experience of learning in this classroom.

The first week of lectures enabled within me an understanding of the foundations of management practise. This mainly lays reference upon the fact that through this assessment, I realised the importance of management within an organisation. In addition to this, I also learned the various concepts of management along with their functions and strategies that can be implemented in a Community Service Sector. This mainly brings to light the fact that through this lecture, I realised the importance of community service and also understood management’s role in community service sector. It is also imperative to note that in the first weekly lectures, I also realised the importance of managing an organisation. This mainly suggests that I understood the role of management and running an organisation. My learning in this assessment has enabled within me an understanding of managing an organisation and has also enabled me to eventually apply it in a practical setting. It is also imperative to note that through this weekly learning, I also understood the various characteristics of a good organisation. This helped me understand the various opportunities that an organisation provides its workforce. This has also enabled me to realise the accurate way of behaving and functioning within an organisation.

The second week of my learning enabled me with an understanding of governance. This mainly suggests that through this weekly learning I realised the importance of governance. In addition to this, I also learnt about the difference between profit and non-profit organisations. This mainly suggests that through this assessment I realised how governance contributes to the development of non-profit organisations. This also lays emphasis on the fact that the assessment helped me make sense of management in regards to non-profit organisations. The learning assessment also helped me gain knowledge about the theoretical perspectives of governance which mainly includes stakeholder theory, agency theory, resource theory, stewardship theory etc. The weekly learning also helped me understand the difference between governance and management which further enabled me with an understanding of the various ways in which an organisation is run ethically. This means that through the entire weekly learning not only did I develop my understanding of the concepts of governance but I also understood the difference between running a company and governing a company. It is also imperative to know that the second weekly lecture also helped me understand the five modes of governance which mainly contribute to enabling a company to succeed in its overall purpose.

Week three of my learning assessment allowed me to learn about leadership. This mainly suggests that I understood the importance of leadership while also realising the difference between leadership and management. In addition to this, it is also imperative to note that I was made aware of the skills of a chief executive (Northouse, 2021). This mainly suggests that through the assessment I understood the various skills that a chief executive must have so that they can lead a company. In addition to this, the assessment also helped me understand the various roles and responsibilities that a chief executive usually has in a company. It is also pivotal to state that the assessment allowed me to realise the various expectations that are aligned with the responsibilities of a leader. This mainly suggests that the assessment helped me understand the various activities that are expected from leaders within a company. The third weekly assessment also helped me understand the various theories of leadership. This mainly suggests that not only did I learn about leadership and its importance but I was also made aware of the various theories of leadership that have their own designated traits. This mainly suggests that I realised how a person following the trait theory is different than a person following the behavioural theory of leadership simply in regards to their characteristic traits. In addition to this, I also understood the various aspects of the contingency theory of leadership. This helped me understand the effectiveness of a contingency leader. The entire assessment instilled within me an understanding of leadership and the various ways a leader can contribute to the overall development of their company.

Governance and Non-Profit Organizations

In week four of my overall learning assessment, I learnt about motivational theories. This mainly suggests that this assessment enabled me to understand the importance of motivation within a company. It also helped me understand the difference between energy direction and persistence and their importance in the overall development of a company. It is also imperative to note that the learning assessment helped me understand the key elements of employee motivation and performance. This mainly suggests that through the assessment I understood the importance of motivating the workforce and also realised how important it is for the company to evaluate and assist performance of their employees (Tweedie et al, 2019). The assessment also instilled within me a deep understanding of motivational theories such as Maslow’s hierarchy of needs which mainly presents five needs that must be met for an individual to feel motivated (Hopper, 2020). In addition to this, the assessment also shed light upon “The Achieving Theory” which is a book by McClelland where he identifies three motivators that are common among all individuals irrespective of their culture age or gender. It is also imperative to note that the entire assessment helped me learn about several other theories of motivation such as Herzberg 2 factor theory, McGregor’s theory X and theory Y, contemporary theories of motivation etc.

My learning assessment in week five helped me realise the importance of decision making. This mainly suggests that through this assessment I learned about the definition of decision and their role within the organisation. In addition to this, the learning assessment also helped me realise the quality of a decision and the entire process that goes behind decision making. The assessment also helped me realise the various ways in which problems differ. It is also imperative to note that the assessment helped me comprehend the various ways to make programmed decisions. I also learned about the advantages of group decision making as well as their disadvantages. The fifth weekly learning assessment also helped me learn about the different ways in which I can improve my decision making. Overall, the entire assessment helped me realise the importance of decision making and how I can eventually learn to practically implement these within my professional life and flourish in my designated purpose.

This weekly assessment helped me understand the importance of strategic management and planning. This mainly suggests that strategic management and planning plays an integral role in the overall development of a company.  Through my weekly learning, I realised that strategic management and planning not only enhances the company’s overall performance but also enables it to beat its competitors. In addition to this, my weekly learning experience also helped me understand that strategic planning is a methodical process (Ansoff et al, 2020). This essentially suggests that the entire process of logical planning and management follows a plan of action. This helped me realise that management and its aspects are mainly a systematic way through which an organisation achieves success. The learning assessment also instilled within me an understanding of the different types of plans that an organisation implements in order to achieve its set target and flourishes in its designated industry. This primarily suggests that through this assessment, I realised the value of strategic management and planning within an organisation and understood the various ways in which these contribute to the overall development of the company (Lasserre, 2017).

Leadership and Chief Executive Skills

This learning assessment helped me realise the importance of performance management. This mainly suggests that through this assessment, I also learned about the human resource department. This essentially elucidates the fact that this assessment instilled within me the importance of managing performance as well as the various performance measures that must be taken. Through this learning experience, I learned about the role of the human resource department within a company along with its various aspects. This assessment also taught me about the types of performance management (Franco-Santos & Doherty, 2017). This mainly suggests that through this assessment I learned about the different ways in which a company chooses to evaluate the performance of its workforce. It is also imperative to note that this assessment helped me understand that the overall performance of the workforce of a company contributes to its development in its designated industry. This assessment not only taught me about managing individual performance but also instilled within me a deep understanding about managing performance in a collective way. In addition to this, I also learned about tracking performance (Pavlov et al, 2017). In addition to this, this weekly assessment also helped me learn about several concepts such as benchmarking, position description and selecting and recruiting applicants. This mainly suggests that through this assessment I not only realised the importance of the human resource department in the company but I also learned about the various rules that contribute to the overall benefit of the company.

This assessment enabled me to understand the importance of managing change and innovation within an organisation. This mainly lays emphasis on the fact that through this learning assessment I understood the importance of organisational change. It is imperative to note that evolution is the base of all living entities. This mainly suggests that through this assessment I realised that in the business world, evolution and change are extremely common prospects. This entire assessment allowed me to learn about innovation and creativity and the various ways in which it contributes to the development of a company. This essentially illustrates the fact that my classroom learning allowed me to understand the importance of innovation and its contribution to the development of a company. I realised that innovation and creativity go hand in hand and eventually enable a company to flourish in their designated market. It is also imperative to note that the assessment taught me about various change processes such as the three-step change process. In addition to this, I also understood the difference between creativity and innovation and how they contribute individually to the benefit of the company. The assessment also instilled within me a keen understanding of the various ways in which a company chooses to stimulate creativity within its workforce. I also learned about several concepts such as expertise, creative thinking skills intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation etc. The weekly assessment also taught me about the five factors that stifle creativity in the workplace. This essentially enabled me to understand the various ways in which creativity takes place within the workforce and enables the company to flourish in its designated purpose in an innovative way.

Motivational Theories

This weekly assessment enabled within me an understanding of managing strategic partnerships. This mainly suggests that the assessment allowed me to learn about growth and development within an organisation. In addition to this, the entire assessment also allowed me to learn about partnerships and when they are formed. My experience with this assessment also instilled within me an understanding about the different types of partnerships. It is also imperative to note that the weekly assessment also helped me learn about the criteria that is taken into account for selecting partnerships for an organisation. The learning assessment also instilled within me the various questions that must be asked while considering a merger for the company. My overall experience with the assessment helped me learn about the various attributes that are necessary for a successful partnership. This mainly suggests that in order for a company to be partnered successfully, it must meet certain checkpoints. This mainly suggests that the assessment enabled me to understand the attributes that are behind a successful partnership. Therefore, it is evident that the overall assessment helped me learn about the importance of partnership for the development of an organisation. The assessment also instilled within me a keen understanding of growth and its importance in the overall success of an organisation in its designated industry.

The tenth weekly assessment helped me learn about control methods and processes. This mainly suggests that through this assessment I realised the importance of control and process within an organisation. The assessment helped me learn about the definition of control. This mainly suggests that this assessment helped me gain a perspective about control from a manager’s viewpoint. In addition to this, the assessment also instilled within me an understanding about the basic control process within an organisation. In order to explain itself, the assessment also presented various examples that helped me realise the practical implication of control. The assessment also elaborated on a management control system which helped me further understand the importance of control within a company (Meyer et al, 2016). The assessment educated me about the four major functions of control within an organisation.
