The Essay On Effective Political Campaigns For Social Change Is Crucial.

This report helps in understanding about the importance of effective political campaigns for the political parties in communicating their agenda and their reason behind the performing such campaign in the society. A political campaign is explained as the organized effort which could help in making the effective decision regarding the growth and development of society while focusing on resolving the issues faced by the people in society (Marozzo & Bessi, 2018). It could help in making the political as well as social change and it would help political party in strengthening its position in the society which could help in improving the position of the party. This report is based upon the Australian Labor Party which is a centre left political party in the Australia and considered as one of the major parties in the Australian politics. It is one of the oldest parties in the history of Australia and there are various political campaigns which are run by them and the campaign which is taken for this project is Anti-corruption campaign which is based upon overcoming the corruption by establishing the Anti-Corruption Commission (Labor, 2022). In addition, this report reflects upon the changes which could be implemented into the campaign to make it more effective.

The political campaigns are based upon setting the agenda which is focused towards taking the actions which could help in overcoming the issues present in the society or aim towards implementing changes which are beneficial for people of the society (Gilardi, Gessler, Kubli, & Muller, 2022).

There are theories which are associated with understanding about the campaign and understanding about the politics which could help in understanding about the agenda and it would help in identifying about the need of political campaigns and changes which could be made to make the campaign effective while addressing the issues which could help in getting the potential exposure in the society (Kalla & Broockman, 2022).

Agenda Setting Theory – It is explained as the theory which provides the information about the power of the media to influence the salience of topics on public agenda. For instance, if an item is covered frequently by the media then the audience would consider it as a major issue and it would help in showing the importance of the issues to the media and setting the agenda to overcome the issue (Gilardi, Gessler, Kubli, & Muller, Social media and political agenda setting, 2022). It would help in creating the agenda among the public by putting more emphasis upon the agenda and developing the mind-set among the people. The presentation by the media made impact on the agenda and issue which could help in influencing the people mind. The priorities which are given by the news to the agenda help in influencing the thinking of people (Langer & Gruber, 2021). There are different levels and based upon that media provides the information which is relevant and showing the issues which are present in the society.

First level – The first level is associated with the study of media use and it is used by researchers to identify the influence which is made by the media. It would help in understanding about the impact upon the people as they are exposed to the information.

Agenda Setting Theory

Second level – At this level, the media focuses on understanding about how people would think when they understand about the issue and media would focus on bringing little sensationalization in the news reports which could help in engaging the audience while grabbing their attention and bringing in the interest of audience. When media focuses on making the issues viral then they would focus on implanting the thoughts in mind of the audience (Alvernia, 2018).

Such theory is effective in development of political campaign because it would help in influencing the audience by communicating the issues and Australian Labor Party would focus on using such theory to setting the agenda for its campaign which is based upon overcoming the corruption and by the help of media the party would focus on communicating about the corruption and its impact on the system and different other activities. Such theory would help in influencing the people about the need of development of National Anti-Corruption Commission and using it to uncover the scandals and it would help in overcoming the issue of corruption while creating awareness among the people and putting their efforts to overcome the issue. Framing of the issue would help in developing the importance to the news and shaping it in the angles that media wants to show it to their audience. For instance, in case of any defeat, win, loss then media would frame the news in such a way that people could see it from different angle. The media make impact on the agenda as it would influence the perception of people about the news and framing the news in such a way that it would create the difference (Research Gate, 2014).

Framing Theory – This theory is associated with the agenda setting but it also focuses on researching about the issues rather than focusing on the topic. The base of the framing theory is to focusing on the events and then placing such events with the field of meaning. It is considered as one of the important topic in influencing the audience and conveying the information to the audience while focusing on influencing the perception of the audience. Such theory is very closely related to the Agenda setting theory as both these theories focuses upon attracting the interest of the audience and helping people in understanding about the issue present in the society. Framing help in creating the frame for the information which is provided to the audience (Shulman & Sweitzer, 2018).

The Australian Labor Party would focus on utilizing such theory within the campaign to inform the issue to the audience with the help of frames and providing the information which could help audience in understanding about the corruption and depicting about the impact of such on the society and how the establishment of the National Anti-Corruption Commission would help in carrying out the enquiries independent of government and looking out in the corruption matters. Framing theory would help in educating about the audience and helping them in understanding about its benefit (Research Gate, 2011).

Framing Theory

 Political campaigns which are organized by the parties are always based upon the growth and development of the society and it also help political parties in strengthening their position which could help them in gaining the top spot among other political parties. Australian Labor Party is one of the oldest political parties in Australia which focuses on following the values such as equality, freedom, self-development etc. which would help in making the people strong and also contribute towards the community partnerships and ensuring that every citizen should get equal rights. The Australian Labor Party runs the political campaign of developing the Anti-Corruption Commission which could help in uncovering the any type of corruption in the society and overcoming the issue of corruption for the growth and development of society. The purpose of this campaign is to serve the people of society and ensuring that member of government which includes politician should be held accountable if they are engaged in activities associated with corruption. The Australian Labor Party run such campaign for the development of the Anti-Corruption Commission at federal level which could help in bringing the transparency at higher level and maintaining the integrity of the government at higher level (Labor, 2022). The introduction of anti-corruption commission would help in reducing the corruption in the country and it would help in dealing with such cases fairly.

In my opinion, the campaign which is run by Australian Labor Party is effective and useful in overcoming the issue of the corruption and ensuring that any government official which is engaged in such activities would face the consequences and it would help in maintaining the law within the system. In my perception, the Australian Labor Party would focus on influencing the public of the country by understanding about the need of such campaign and helping them in understanding about the agenda upon which the campaign is based upon and helping in overcoming the issues faced by the people of society. Corruption is one of the issues which are faced in the society and it does made impact on the development of society as people in the government demands for the bribe for the different activities. The political campaign of the Australian Labor party is based upon building the Anti-Corruption Commission at federal level which would monitor the cases associated with corruption and give appropriate punishment to government officials which are engaged in the corruption activities. The agenda of the Australian Labor Party is to establish the body which would help operate independently and would help in making the decision against the people which are indulged in such activities (ABC News, 2022).

The activities of such representative would help in extending their jurisdiction which would allow them to investigate the commonwealth ministers, public servants, personal staff of the politicians etc. Such campaign from the party would help in creating the system which is transparent and help in carrying out the functions independently and overcoming the issue of the corruption which includes the complaint from the whistle-blowers and public. It would possess the power of investigating the allegations against the serious corruption issues and working towards the public interest.

The Anti-Corruption Campaign by the Australian Labor Party

The wider context of the political campaigns is to create the environment which is corruption free and would help in performing the activities and using such campaign for the growth and development of the country. Corruption is one of the issues which does effect on the public system which leads to the negative impact on different activities and the Australian Labor Party which is focused on establishing the Anti-National Corruption Commission would be effective in overcoming such issue. The campaign of the Australian Labor Party is based upon improving the environment within the states and the country which would allow them to maintain transparency in within the country and could focus on overcoming the issue of the corruption and using such campaign to uncover the list of scandals and cover-ups followed by the corruption. The aim of the campaign is to build the establishment which focuses on uncovering the government officials and people which are associated with them and understanding about their indulgence in the corruption activities. It should carry out its functions independently of government and looking into the serious corruption activities. Such campaign does gained popularity among the public as it is supported by the people to overcome the issue of the corruption from the society and it would help in maintaining transparency between the society and the government.

There is need of changes in the campaign which could help Australian Labor Party in communicating their values and position behind the campaign and the goals of setting up the National Anti-Corruption Commission which would help in overcoming the issues of corruption. Australian Labor Party could focus on using different techniques to promote its campaign among the public and help them in understanding about the negative impact of corruption activities on the society and how their campaign would help in making the system more transparent and help in overcoming the issue of corruption.
