With the increase in the advancements in technology, telecommuting concept has revolunarized the way of working in the organizations since 1970. Telecommuting has grown at such a pace just to achieve an unprecedented level today. This concept has dwelled the working scenario in the past few years. It is associated with other terms as well that are rising continuously in the organizations such as telework, work from home, e-work and remote work. But, there is an undenying fact telecommuting and remote work have slight difference, which accordingly changes their impact and working scenario of the organization (Westfall, 2004). Although both are practiced extensively in the organizations in today’s world, but they are different from each other. This paper highlights the rise of telecommuting and explains the remote intelligence work to have a better understanding of the management functions and the core skills required to manage the people belonging to different geographical locations in the business organizations today (Shekarchi, et al., 2015).

Telecommuting is the scenario where the employees work from a different location other than the ordinary work environment, which is supported by the technological setup. It is the work arrangement that expands the location and time agenda for working. It is based on three main principles such as delocalization of work, bond with the organization and the utilization of technology. Telecommuting is growing since 1970 and is still expected to grow in a wide scope. With an increase in the technology and the spread of broadband services, telecommuting is the fastest growing mode that helps in increasing the flexibility of work. According to the data, there has been an 19% increase in the use of telecommuting in the United States of America and more than 29% increase in the United Kingdom. 75% of the companies are satisfying with the implementation of the telecommuting system in the organization (Lash, 2005). Telecommuting is such a concept that provides ample of benefits to the organizations and the employees. It has been found that telecommuting has successfully helped the organizations in increasing their level of productivity. Also, the work of telecommuters is found to be more efficient and accurate in comparison to the employees working in the offices. Organizations are constantly relying on this concept of doing work due to its increased amount of benefits that are reaped by the organizations and by the employees. From reduced costs of performing tasks to reducing the traffic on the highway, it is considered as the best fit for the organizations these days. According to the magazine survey, 52% of the employees are found to spend more time on work than the employees working in the office, this then increases the level of efficiency and productivity in the organization. Telecommuting is expected to grow the level of jobs by four folds in the coming years (Shockley, 2014). Due to its potential benefits, it is also expected that telecommuting has considerably increased the level and quality of life of the employees. With the increase in this concept of working from home, which enables the organizations to expand geographically, the concept of remote working has also created its own name and space. Remote working is somewhat different than the telecommuting concept as telecommuting is the working from remote working areas during the working hours either from home or workplace, whereas remote working is the work from home that is outside the geographical location. This has increased the worry of the organizations to manage the employees who are expanded over vast geographic areas. Extensive rise in the telecommuting and its benefits has led to an increase in the concept of remote working within the business world. According to the firm Gartner, since 2005, there is an increase of more than 23% of the workforce that have started to work from home atleast one day per month (Pinsonneault, et al., 1999).

Benefits of Telecommuting for Organizations and Employees

Due to considerable increase in technology, there is a significant increase in the telecommuting concept and its usage has also increased. With this, the organizations are now depending on the concept of remote working, which is likely to be present in almost every business field such as healthcare, hospitality, pharmacy, automobile and so on. More and more  organizations are turning to the use of remote intelligence in order to reduce the costs, increasing the top and managed employees, retain best employees, increase productivity and for managing non-work demands. It is the remote intelligence that has enabled the doctors to perform the surgery from 400 kilometres away through robots. The performance of the work activities from being away from the location of the work has excited the business organizations and alomots every field of industry to rely extensively on the use of remote intelligence (Bell, 2012). Almost 69% of the employees feel that working through telecommuting and remote working has helped in increasing the productivity levels of the organization and has boosted the employees to work efficiently. People living in the rural and remote areas are depending on the use of remote intelligence just to seek out the best. Organizations have been able to deploy and expand their business networks only due to the invent of remote intelligence. The use of skilled workers and employees have increased just due to the remote working as it has helped the organizations to connect with the talented people that were far away from the location of the job or work. Remote intelligence is considered as the best way to overcome the challenge of maintaining and retaining the human capital with an increase in the level of efficiency and productivity. Remote workers feel that working through telecommuting is the best way and aspect as it creates a positive impact on the job and as well as on the worker. According to the Society of Human Resource Management, there will be a considerable increase in the remote workers in the coming next five years (Felstead & Henseke, 2017).

Many large companies are adopting the use of remote strategies, in order to allow their employees to work from anywhere. Frequent improvements in technology have helped the companies in adopting such strategies more often. Number of growth of use of remote intelligence by the firms is expected to grow at a rapid rate by 2020. Companies are shifting to this form of working due to its varied benefits that have helped the organizations in various ways. Instead of telecommuting, companies are relying on remote intelligence due to its more advancements and benefits that can be reaped by the organizations. It proves out to be more beneficial for the employees as well. The basic reason for companies to use remote intelligence instead of telecommuting is to recruit more and more of talented people from across the globe, which is only possible through remote intelligence. For promoting better and healthier employees, companies are constantly driving to achieve remote strategies in comparison to telecommuting (Bibby & Rozier , 2017). As remote intelligence offers the flexibility in the range of work, thereby, it promotes happier employees, which encourages the organization to make use of remote strategies and not necessarily the telecommuting base. Remote intelligence is also preferred due to its ability to create long term business growth and performance. many companies like Auttomatic, Toptal and Mozilla have shifted to the use of this technology. According to the Toptal’s website, it has been found that the productivity of the employee is known by what they do, not by their presence on the chair. This rather builds the epitome of using remote intelligence in a more varied and extensive form. from telecommuting, the organizations are now shifting to remote  intelligence due to such reasons that make them better (Gasca, 2016).

Remote intelligence is the practice of working from anywhere across the globe. It helps the companies in reaching a vast geographical base and this turns leads to a better and sound work environment. Remote working was a small segment in the history of work employemnet, but it has spurred its growth only because of the use of internet across the globe. Companies have been able to respond to such technology and work productives only because of the invent of technology. The remote working is exceptionally the work for the employees, not for the freelancers. Remote intelligence has changed the outlook of performing the business activities where the working environment has changed. It is the team that works together from any location (Murphy, 2016). The time has gone where the work or business was to work from a single place. Today, the companies are striving hard to work and go remote as it provides significant benefits to the companies. The remote intelligence is the flex job that provides the employees with the flexibility of working schedule and place. It is another professional level of working, which is above the telecommuting work. Remote intelligence can be enabled by incorporating the robots and efficient use of internet in order to go remote. The set upp of technology and internet is a must for any company that aims at going remote. Enabling remote intelligence is the best and most suitable outlook in today’s world, which can be enhanced and significant benefits can be achieved through this (Arruda, 2017).

High skilled jobs are lost to the use of machines in the professional services only because of the use of the remote intelligence at the workplace. Companies are extensively relying on the use of artificial intelligence, remote intelligence, teleworking, which has created a threat to the workers working at the job location. With increase in the technological advancements, the hiring of robots to perform the tasks from abroad has increased, which significantly causes a threat to the western workers (Collins, et al., 2016). With increase in the use of remote intelligence, employees working in the western countries are facing threats due to the use of robots,which perform their tasks more effectively and efficiently. Automation and remote intelligence is calling off the jobs of the people actually working in the western countries. Making use of remote intelligence creates a negative impact on the workplace, as it might take place of the wokers in the near future. Technology is substituting the labor work, which have radically impact on the incomes of the people. Technology and going remote destroys the employees and their jobs, by creating new and better ones. Going remote poses a serious threat on the western workers by destroying their confidence and incomes that make it hard for them to live in the future. The productivity of the employees, confidence, incomes, happiness and morale of the western workers or the current workforce is adversely affected by the use of the remote intelligence at the workplace. It is true to the fact that workforce faces enormous challenges or threat due to the invent of remote intelligence in the working environment (West, 2015). 

Remote Intelligence: Definition, Benefits, and Growth

Every profession in the world is changing due to the invent of technology. The remote intelligence has certain ethics and considerations while making its use in the work environment. Every organization must emohasize on the use of the remote intelligence by considering its ethics and practices in order to avoid any kind of issues and problems. The contract must be properly reviewed and analyzed before inculcating the use of the remote working in the organization. Mostly every company have strived the use of remote working, thereby, it becomes important for the organizations to understand the ethics of using the same. Significant research must be done in this sector, before deploying the technology in order to understand its set up and pros and cons that might affect the company as well as the employees (Tugend, 2014). The compliance and threat predictions must be done aptly to reduce the chances of any kind of issues that might arise out of the use of remote working. The technology parameters must be understood and stated before deploying this. The employees working from the remote locations must be stated with the compliance and working ethics of the organization so as to avoid the chances of fradualent and misconduct. Efficient and particular ethics must be followd by the organizations before making use of the remote intelligence at the working place. It should be devised in such a form that it also protects the current workforce of the organization (Boddington, 2018).

Every organization has its core business that stands it importance. The primary activity that  the organization focuses on is its core business. Comapnies are build or present only on the basis of the core business that they possess. The core business is open to certain critical elements such as marketing, business planning, building team, financial management, efficient customer service, continuous improvement, sales and estimation and others. The companies have different elements for emphasizing their core business (Head, 2017). It is very important for the organizations to focus on improving the levels of their elements of core business. Nowadays, due to the invent of remote intelligence the elements of core business have become easy. Possible benefits of remote intelliegence are reducing the costs of travelling, setting environment for workplace. The remote workers are provided with such salaries that they happy to spend with, which considerably reduces the cost amount for an organization. Increase in productivity is another benefit which helps in achieving the core busisness targets. Also, the organization is benefitted by less absentism from the employees as they considerably enjoy working from the desired location. With possible advantages, its causes disadvantages to the business like less connection with the colleagues as remote working leads to working remotely, which includes less interaction with others. Worklife balance is the biggest challenge in the operation of remote intelligence, which affects the core of the business. Also, working from remote areas leads to more of distractions as it reduces the focus of the employees on the work (Ware & Grantham, 2010).

Companies' Shift to Remote Intelligence and Benefits

Although incorporating the use of remote intelligence is the best for the organizations these days, but managing the remote employees is not. Significant leadership skills are required for managing the remote employees. Leadership traits and skills are a must for managing the remote teams. Firstly, the manager must be indefatigable, who can manage the remote teams at different time zones. Secondly, the manager must be evangible, who can bring positivity about the organizational culture and work in the minds of the remote workers an at the same time at help in vanishing the negative ones. Thirdly, the manager must be encouraging who at all points of bump can easily encourage the remote workers. Also, the remote manage must be approachable and constructive both at the same time, which reduces the problems of communication and discontentment with the management of remote workers (Parris, 2017).

It can be fairly concluded that remote working is the best technology for the organizations in today’s world and it is aboe the level of telecommuting as it provides significant benfits to the organizations using it. Although there are various problems in managing the remote working, but they can be avoided by taking certain steps like communicating with best tools and advancements that help in overcoming the issue of possibily managing the same. Also, by setting the expectations and stating the working hours properly to the remote workers, the management of remote workers could be a less of a challenge. Thus, it is clear that remote intelligence is and will create and change the future of working environment in the best possible way.
